Product Development Manager – Roles & Responsibilities (Brief)

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage the complete New Product Development (NPD) lifecycle from concept creation to commercial launch.

• Coordinate product briefing, formulation development, packaging selection, testing, and manufacturing hand-off.

• Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and trend forecasting in skincare, makeup, and personal care categories.

• Work closely with R&D and laboratory teams for formulation development, product trials, stability testing, and quality evaluation.

• Ensure compliance with cosmetic regulations, ingredient standards, labeling norms, and safety requirements (FDA/CDSCO guidelines).

• Source and coordinate with vendors for raw materials, packaging components, and third-party manufacturing requirements.

• Manage product costing, COGS, pricing feasibility, MOQs, and margin optimization.

• Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and QA teams for smooth product launches and timely execution.

• Monitor timelines, project milestones, and production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of new launches.

• Maintain product documentation, specifications, testing reports, and regulatory records.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulations, and packaging technologies.

• Experience in skincare, beauty, or personal care product development.

• Strong project management and vendor management skills.

• Good understanding of regulatory compliance and quality standards.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination abilities.

• Ability to identify consumer trends and convert insights into innovative products.
